Frequently Asked Questions

What is Tri-Shore Little League?

Tri-Shore Little League is a local little league chartered under Little League International, a 501c3 organization.  It is in District 11 which serves the Asbury Park, BALC, Howell North, Howell Central, Howell South, Manasquan-Brielle, Neptune, Neptune City/Bradley Beach, North Wall, South Wall, Ocean Township, Point Pleasant Beach and Tri-Shore Little Leagues. More information on the structure of Little League can be found here.

You must be a resident of Avon, Belmar, Lake Como, Sea Girt, Spring Lake, Spring Lake Heights or attend a school within those towns (i.e. AES, BES, St. Catharine's, St. Rose, SGES, H. W. Mountz, SLH, etc.) to participate in the league.

When does the season start and end?

Opening day is in early April. Regular season ends around June 15.

When are games played and how often are practices?

At the Major, Minor, and Pony levels there are typically two games a week, one weekday and one on Saturday. Weather and field availability will effect the schedule from time to time. Before the season starts, practice is typically one to two times per week, at the discretion of the coaches. In season practices are less frequent and at the discretion of the coaches.

At the T-Ball level, games are played once a week on Saturday morning. A few weekday games may be scheduled as well (holidays, weather, field availability, etc. affect this). Practices pre-season and during season are at the discretion of the coaches, but typically no more than once per week, less during the season.

Four year old T-Ball will have weekly clinics on Saturdays. No practices.

What is the parade?

The TSLL Parade Day is a day where the entire league (managers, coaches, players, etc.) plus fire trucks, and school bands walk in a parade and celebrate the start of a new spring season. The parade alternates year to year between Spring Lake (down 3rd Avenue from the Flagpole in town to Marucci Field) and Spring Lake Heights (from SLH Elementary to Allaire Road fields).

What is Player Authenticate?

Little League requires all local leagues to verify birthdate, address, and to collect medical release information for each of its players. In order to comply with this requirement, as well as enhance the privacy of information of our residents, TSLL has partnered with Player Authenticate to collect this information and store it in a secured environment. Player Authenticate will not pass this information on to the league (except for medical release data, which will be available to coaches on demand in case of player injury), but will merely tell the league whether the player meets the requirements or not.

Why is the registration deadline so early when the season doesn't start till April?

The deadline for registering is February 28th. This gives the manager committee on the Board a week to select coaches for the upcoming season. Those coaches must be selected before the first player evaluations. After player evaluations, teams are drafted within the next week, leaving coaches just 3 short weeks to practice and prepare their teams for the start of the season.

What happens if I miss the registration deadline and my child is wait listed?

After the registration deadline, the Board will determine the number of teams in each division based on the number of registered players. Coaches are selected and scheduling begins. Players that register after the deadline will be wait listed and placed on existing teams if room is available or if enough kids register to form an additional team in a division. If we are unable to place your child on a team, we will refund your money. Please register early

When will I find out what team my child is on?

After evaluations, coaches will get together and select teams. You can expect to hear within the first two weeks of March. T-Ball teams will be selected before the end of the first week of April.
